For those who know me in the music-production world as Nelac, thought I'd share with you a brand new track I created today using elements from "Try Unite!" by Megumi Nakajima. I created the beat out of respect for how awesome the original version is. You can hear "Try Unite!" as the theme song to the anime "Rinne no Lagrange". Enjoy!

Don Cornelius, 75, Found Dead

Today, the world has lost an icon and innovator in the music industry.

Don Cornelius, creator and host of the popular TV series “Soul Train”, was found dead in his home in Sherman Oaks, CA this morning at around 4 AM PT.

According to TMZ.com and WashingtonPost.com, law enforcement sources reported that Cornelius appears to have committed suicide; he suffered a gunshot wound to the head which is believed to have been self-inflicted. He was rushed to a nearby hospital by the Los Angeles Fire Department, where he was pronounced dead. He was 75 years old.

Cornelius is known for the success of “Soul Train”, airing from 1971 to 2006 and being syndicated in more than 100 markets. It served as a platform for soul music receiving a wider audience that changed the landscape of television. As its producer, writer and host, Cornelius helped stars like The Jackson Five, Earth, Wind & Fire, and a host of other well-known artists gain national and international exposure. He would host the show until 1993 and was well-known for his signature sign-off: “I’m Don Cornelius, and as always in parting, we wish you love, peace and sooooouuuullll!”

“Soul Train” would also give birth to the popular “Soul Train Line”, an imprint in popular culture used at parties, weddings and social events.

The show would later spin off the popular Soul Train Music Awards and the Soul Train Lady of Soul Awards, which still air to this day.

Awww. Jay-Z getting sentimental on us. lol!

Mr. Carter recently released the Neptunes-produced single "Glory", a testament of new life brought into this world in the form of his daughter, Blue Ivy Carter. The main thing I like about this song is that it paints a picture of joy genuinely expressed by proud parents when their child is born. Many fathers (and of course mothers, too) can relate to the simple yet touching message displayed. What better way for Hov to say "welcome to planet earth" than through what he loves to do? Makes sense to me.

The part I thought was sweet was little Miss Carter crying at the end. The precious lamb! lol, I know she will appreciate this many years from now when she gets older. You can download the song for free by clicking on the picture below.

Two Books In the Works!

LOL, hope everyone has thoroughly enjoyed their Labor Day holiday this past weekend and got a lot of food in your stomachs--which is probably still digesting it as we speak. ^_^

I didn't really do much during the holiday; for those in Georgia, you know about the big storm and tornado watch we had down here. I had been in the house the entire time working on some new and exciting projects. I am currently in the process of publishing my first two books I have EVER written. One is the Music Etiquette 101 series of lessons, which some of my earlier readers may remember me posting the first two lessons for (lesson 3 coming soon). I'll be completing the last six lessons this month, so there will be nine altogether. The second is my first book of poetry, comprised of old and new poems written over the past few years. Both will be made available for sale as e-books through Amazon.com. For all of you Kindle owners, they will be downloadable for your device as well.

Writing has always been a part of my life that I love to do; if I didn't enjoy it, I wouldn't be a songwriter today. And I always had a desire to pursue this aspect of writing but always procrastinated on doing something about it. But now I'm finally moving forward on this enjoyable gift that has grown from a hobby into a way of life. And I look forward to sharing my first two works with you.
