New Music Review | Beyonce - Run the World (Girls)

You can't deny the industry intelligence of established artists like Beyonce. We know from the "I Am...Sasha Fierce" album her uncanny ability to create a hit song for her target audience (women). So when I actually sat down and really LISTENED to her new single that recently dropped, I paid attention to all of those factors while throwing out the window the side talk everyone else was making regarding this song.

Well, what I listened to was a very well crafted song that gets its point across. The music was well constructed and the vocal arrangements meshed perfectly with it. At first the song was humorous to me considering the fact that this is yet, truthfully speaking, another "girl power" song, those for which Bey is well-known. But I took it a step further and read the lyrics for it. Two words: simplistically impressive. She doesn't beat around the bush and gets straight to the point. What struck me the most was the power behind the chord modulations used throughout the song, especially at the vamp (the very end). Certain aspects of music have to strike me a certain way due to how big I am on chord progressions and how it makes me feel. Surprisingly enough, "Run the World (Girls)" accomplished that.

Here's my official salute to Beyonce for releasing another anthem for 2011! What are your thoughts about the single? Leave your comments below.
